The Chianti Sculpture Park is a place for contemporary art enthusiasts, nature lovers, and anyone who wants to see that there’s more to the area than vineyards and wine tasting. Artists from all over the world exhibit their work in the lush Chianti landscape in central Tuscany.

Cradled in the Tuscan hills, the Chianti Sculpture Park near Siena ranges over 17 acres. The owner Piero Giadrossi’s vision for the park was to show off the work of lesser-known artists to a wider international audience. The park is home to a variety of artists from 25 different countries. The artworks are created in a diverse range of materials from glass and steel to bronze and granite.

In this park art and nature live happily side by side. Everything here just seems to work beautifully together, from the materials used, to the way the sculptures interact with the light and trees. A reinterpretation of a natural space curated with creativity and sensitivity. It’s a brilliant way to enjoy the countryside of Tuscany.

Last year the park was mentioned in the National Geographic as being amongst the 10 best sculpture parks in the world : “Tree stumps carved in marble, a cypress tree made from layers of glass that sparkle in the sunlight, a glass labyrinth, and the ribs of a ship are just some of the sculptures along a woodland trail in the Tuscan hills. They have been designed to harmonise with the colors, light, and trees around them.”

The park is the only example of site-specific contemporary art in the area of Siena. And it’s also a wonderful space to walk, relax and see another side of Chianti. One of the best day trips if you’re staying in Siena.
