Italy is 1 hour ahead of Greenwich Mean Time

International calls from Italy

First dial 00 and then the country code (U.K. 44, Ireland 353, U.S. or Canada 1, Australia 61, New Zealand 64). Next dial the area code and number.

Remember there are very few working pay phones in Tuscany.

International calls to Italy

1. Dial the international access code:  00 from the U.K, 011 from the U.S, or 0011 from Australia etc.

2. Dial the country code: 39.

3. Dial the city code (for Florence: 055) and then the number, without dropping the first zero.

Internet & Wi-Fi

Internet cafes are a rare sight nowadays, but Internet Train do offer some internet points in Tuscany. In smaller towns there are virtually none, but hotels are increasingly offering Wi-Fi throughout the rooms. Failing that try a local bar, library or hostel.

Mobile networks are generally good and reliable. But remember, if you are staying in some of the more remote locations that internet coverage is more limited.
