September opens with the traditional Rificolona Festival, that happens every year on the evening of 7th September bringing to the city centre hundreds of paper lanterns and memories of the past, when country people would arrive in droves to Florence to celebrate the Virgin Mary’s birthday. The main parade starts at 8:15 pm in Piazza Santa Felicita and ends in Piazza della Santissima Annunziata. For kids of all ages!

From 26th September Palazzo Strozzi in Florence dedicates a great exhibition to early Renaissance painter Beato Angelico. On our blog we’ve talked a lot about this painter because we love the San Marco Museum with his touching frescoes (read our visit to San Marco Museum), and we can’t wait to see Beato Angelico’s paintings, drawings and miniatures that will arrive in Florence from museums all over the world.
Florence Jazz Festival delights music fans from 2nd to 14th September 2025.
